ROGAINE® products are used to treat hereditary hair loss in women over the age of 18. The checklist below will help you determine if Women’s ROGAINE® Foam is right for you.

  • Male or female members of your immediate or extended family have experienced hair loss.
  • You have noticed a gradual thinning of the hair on the top of your scalp, which may be most noticeable around the part and sometimes may be more extensive near the front of the scalp. It forms a pattern similar to the shape of an evergreen tree.
  • Your women’s hair loss resembles the images shown below:

If the above points apply to you, consider using Women’s ROGAINE® Foam.
If there is no family history of gradual thinning or gradual hair loss, or your hair loss is patchy, see your doctor.

How is Women’s ROGAINE® different than Men’s ROGAINE®?

Women’s ROGAINE® 5% Minoxidil Foam is a once daily hair regrowth treatment indicated and labeled specifically for women. The product’s safety and effectiveness profile was demonstrated in clinical studies of once daily use in women experiencing female pattern hair loss. In contrast, Men’s ROGAINE® Foam is a twice daily hair regrowth treatment indicated and labeled specifically for men. The product’s safety and effectiveness profile was demonstrated in clinical testing of twice daily use in men experiencing male pattern hair loss. As always, we recommend following the labeled dosage when using any ROGAINE® minoxidil product.

How is Women’s ROGAINE® different from cosmetic thickening products?

Unlike products that just temporarily coat thinning hair, Women’s ROGAINE® Foam revitalizes shrinking hair follicles to stimulate hair regrowth from the inside out. It’s also the first and only clinically proven 5% minoxidil foam treatment for women that is available in Canada.

Does Women’s ROGAINE® work?

Women’s ROGAINE® Foam is clinically proven to regrow hair in women who apply it once per day for 24 weeks.

Is Women’s ROGAINE® safe to use on colour-treated hair?

Yes. We have no evidence to indicate that colouring your hair modifies the effect of Women’s ROGAINE® Foam. However, because the use of hair colour can cause scalp irritation on certain people, we recommend washing all Women’s ROGAINE® Foam off your hair and scalp before using a colour treatment, and waiting a full 24 hours after colouring before resuming use of Women’s ROGAINE® Foam. There is no need to use more Women’s ROGAINE® product to make up for missed applications.

Does Women’s ROGAINE® contain hormones?

No. Minoxidil, the active ingredient in Women’s ROGAINE® Foam is a non-hormonal topical hair regrowth treatment. Applied to the scalp, it renews your hair’s growth cycle and revitalizes shrunken hair follicles caused by hereditary hair loss.

Does Women’s ROGAINE® really make your hair fall out at first?

Not the way you might think. During the first 2 to 6 weeks of use, you may notice a temporary increase in hair shedding. This temporary shedding happens because a new growth cycle is beginning, and older hairs are being shed to make way for newer, stronger ones. It is a bit like losing baby teeth to make room for adult teeth. This shedding can be frustrating, but it should subside with continued treatment, allowing you to see new growth. However, if increased shedding persists for more than 2 weeks, please consult your doctor to rule out other possible causes of hair loss or medical issues.

How often do you have to apply Women’s ROGAINE ®?

Consistency is the key to success with Women’s ROGAINE® Foam and, as you only need to apply it once per day, it fits easily into your existing beauty routine.

What happens if you stop using Women’s ROGAINE®?

Keep in mind that hereditary hair loss progresses over time if left untreated, so you’ll need to continue using Women’s ROGAINE® Foam to maintain your hair’s regrowth. If you stop using it, your normal hair loss process will resume, and you’ll probably lose your newly regrown hair within 3 to 4 months.
